We have been learning about insects, particularly the ladybird, this week.

The photos show us singing our Ladybug Song and creating our Ladybug sun catchers.

 

The ladybird has three different titles….the ladybug, the ladybird or the lady beetle!

Here are some facts you may not have known about the ladybug.

 

  1. There are about 4,300 kinds of ladybugs in the world.

 

  1. Female ladybugs can eat as many as 75 aphids in one day!

 

  1. Ladybugs smell with their feet and antennae.

 

  1. The colour of a ladybug’s spots begin to fade as it gets older.

 

  1. A ladybug’s bright colour warns birds that it does not taste
    good.

 

  1. When a ladybug flies, its wings beat 85 times every second.
